Why I Write

I used to think blogs were stupid (I still kind of do). So why start a blog if I hate them?

Well for one, I envy all people with interesting blogs. For that matter I envy all people with interesting columns, or books, or thoughts that random strangers will spend time enjoying. I want random strangers to enjoy reading my thoughts.

And for two, I wrote a music column for the last three years in my high school paper. Clearly it's no big deal. But, once a month I would dedicate an hour or two to write about music. And without the minor pressure of a deadline and the morality factor that I was selected to supply a music column to the paper, I wouldn't bother. So since I have this now, my own neurosis will cause me to feel bad if I don't update it and therefore force me to write, regardless of a nonexistant deadline.
